zGlue was founded in 2014 “to make building complex semiconductor products fast, easy and fun.” BOE Technology Group, an IoT company providing intelligent interface products and services for information interaction and human health, is a customer, investor and ecosystem partner to help speed design and manufacture of IoT products. The company declined to provide any information beyond what has already been publically disclosed.

zGlue argues that traditional monolithic SoC integration cannot meet the time-to-market and cost demands of the fast-growing IoT market. The company believes it has developed a SiP methodology that results in lower cost than complex PCB designs, and faster time to market then custom SoCs, whether for a few prototypes or millions of devices.

zGlue has developed a 3D-IC-based F.A.S.T. (form factor, adaptability, scalability and time to market) technology platform, along with manufacturing partners and a chiplet ecosystem. Its chiplet-based IoT platform eliminates the difficulties, high costs, long time to design and scale up, and risks associated with traditional semiconductor design.

zGlue’s FAST platform is comprised of zCad software, ZiP integration platform, zGlue Smart Fabric interposer, and the zGlue ZiPlet Store. In the ZiPlet Store, developers select and configure the features they need from chiplets, proven silicon implementations provided by existing trusted vendors. zGlue automatically generates validated options for a customer’s unique ZiP implementation on the zGlue Smart Fabric. The zGlue integration platform also includes embedded passives, power control, debug, and other infrastructure needs.

zCad software automatically generates both hardware and software development environments, enabling product teams to immediately begin validating the fit and function within the context of their designs. As a result, products can go from idea to design to functional prototypes in days, and from prototypes to high volume production in a few weeks.

zGlue has selected Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) as its strategic manufacturing partner. ASE provides multiple options for assembling zGlue-certified chiplets, which are automatically interconnected through the zGlue Smart Fabric onto the ZiP hardware to rapidly create an IoT system.
